st. patrick's day

In honor of all of the outstanding teachers, we at Gladstone's have a great appreciation for those who teach our citizens of tomorrow. Every year Gladstone's honors one school in Los Angeles County. And this year, for our 13th year, we honored Mulholland Middle School. The process goes like this… Once a school has been selected, we ask that school to vote for the most inspirational teacher for that year. The votes are then brought to Gladstone's to be tallied.

We invite all of the teachers and a guest to a beach bash where we have collectively gathered donations with our purveyors to wine and dine the teachers. Each teacher is given a certificate from both the Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office and the schools District Supervisor's office. This year the Most Inspirational Teacher of the Year was awarded to Michelle Sawyer by none other than the former Mayor of Los Angeles, Mr. Richard Riordan. Michelle received a wine gift basket from R.H. Phillips Winery, Continental Airline Tickets, Knott's Berry Farm Tickets, a gift certificate from Z-Galleries, and tons of other goodies. The school received two laptops donated by the Riordan Foundation and several other group donations.

Gladstone's would like to thank all of those who attended and all of those who helped in creating this wonderful, charitable event: Mayor Richard Riordan, The Riordan Foundation, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Mr. Zev Yaroslavsky, The Ella Fitzgerald Foundation, The Museum of Tolerance, Classic Party Rentals, Southwest Airlines, Continental Airlines, The Aquarium of the Pacific, The Page Museum: La Brea Tar Pits, Z-Galleries, Knott's Berry Farm, Beacon Pictures, Saddle Peak Lodge, along with all of our wonderful food and beverage purveyors!

st. patrick's day Heal the Bay- Lunch & Learn Program

Gladstone's is proud to be a part of the new "Lunch and Learn" program. Working together with Heal the Bay, a Santa Monica non-profit organization, we have designed a program to give children the chance to participate in protecting our beaches and watershed. Every month a new group of children join us for lunch, participate in a hands on beach clean, and lastly, a classroom discussion about the importance of recycling and waste management. With this program, we hope these young new citizens will continue protecting our environment.

The survival of our beautifual beaches depends on it.

If you are interested in having your school participate, contact Heal the Bay at www.healthebay.org
